Re: One or Two Drivers??

As someone who's worked with 3 different operators as well as flown solo over my 4 years, I think I can provide some unique insight here.

First of all, I feel that 2 drivers, if done right, is...

Re: FRC 71 2002 Marching technique

Derailed thread is derailed, but this is a fun discussion.

As someone who was there and talking with 87's driveteam before and after the match, the plan was for both of them to cross the rough...

Re: Robot Communication Lost for odd reason

If you'd like another person to check the code, I'm decently experienced in LabVIEW and am willing to give it a look.

Re: Is the FIRST District point system algorithm correct?

It looks that way, yes. The alliance in question is listed as 2-0 in the quarterfinals on First's official event page (http://frc-events.firstinspires.org/2016/WAMOU/playoffs), which would indicate...

Re: Team Update 14 (2016)

This was in update 7; they forgot to alter the text until now. The diagram has showed the proper height for a month.

Re: Withholding Allowance

While this seems odd, what rule, exactly, would prevent it? Only what's going out on the field has to be sub 120lbs, not everything in the bag...

Re: Help programming pneumatics

Like so:

In the false state of the case structure in Teleop, the solenoid must be set to reverse instead of forward. Additionally, in Begin, make sure your PCM ID and...

Re: Wiring Multiple PCMs

As a team that's using two PCMs, I can tell you that powering them on seperate circuits is required by the rules (on mobile so I can't quote the specific one but trust me.) We're wiring the second...

The video is only in the team update pdf itself because it's a joke.

Re: 2016: The year of bullying kitbots and hypothetical situations

Yes. This is the idea. Stealing a boulder from your opponent's secret passage is a high risk/high reward strategy. Not being familiar with this may hurt rookies (or any team founded since 2014,...

Re: 2016: The year of bullying kitbots and hypothetical situations

According to the G11 clarifications, the only time this is true is when you willingly put your robot in the opponent's secret passage. No other time.

Re: 2016: The year of bullying kitbots and hypothetical situations

Alright. Re-reading your initial post, I think I understand where you're coming from a bit better, but just to clarify: who is punishing whom for bad positioning?

Edit: I initially read your post...

Re: 2016: The year of bullying kitbots and hypothetical situations

...what? The blue box added to G11 makes what happens here quite clear:

While this is from the neutral zone, the concept is the same. G11 on the pushing robot.

As for the rest:

Outlined above....

Re: New radio

It glows instantly IIRC, but make sure you're in 12V. You stated earlier that it's plugged into the same spot as last year, which is incorrect. If you're using last year's VRM, the new radio should...

Re: New radio

It doesn't go in the same spot. Plug it into the 12V 2A rail of the VRM.

Re: The Boulder Agreement

I am a driver and hope these agreements die as quickly as the noodle agreement.

But back to the question at hand: it depends. From a strategic perspective, it doesn't make any sense to hand the...

Agreed, and that interpretation of 'immediately' is how I expect the GDC to respond.

Re: Boulder shenanigans

In addition to what's been said above, the way I read G34, it's okay to have 7+ boulders so long as the human players immediately pick up the excess and introduce them to the field; as such, you...

Re: Starting Crossing C Defenses With Doors Held

As far as I can tell, this is fine, so long as you drove up from the NEUTRAL ZONE side to open the door. Before the robot opens door, it's free of contact and completely in the NEUTRAL ZONE. There's...

Re: G28 + G11 seems broken

The wording of G11 is important; BLUE's goal in this scenario has to be to draw the foul. The specific phrasing of the blue box seems to suggest that BLUE would get a G11 if they hunt down RED for...

Re: FRC Blog - Get Ready to Make FIRST Choices

For reference, we received an additional 300 credits for round 2 last year. No guarantee it'll be the same this year, but it seems to be a fairly safe bet.

In regards to item stock, while I don't...

Re: [FRC Blog] 2016 Radio Update

From 2010 onward, literally everything but the cRIO, solenoid breakout, and radio (except when it was new, until 2014), was given to all teams. Even the PDP, which was fairly expensive as I recall....
