Re: USB Camera Solution

This seems to be working for us! We're using the command-based robot code, so it took a little bit of rejigging to use it.

We're running the image grabbing in Teleop Periodic and only every tenth...

Re: USB Camera Stopped working

We've switched to the Lifecam HD-3000, but the same issue exists. I wasn't too hopeful that it'd fix it. I think we might be at the mercy of WPILib updates now...

Re: Blown talon srx modules

Manually rotating the motors does generate current and can fry motor controllers. We have fried many Victors and Jaguars this way. We have adopted the following "rule" because of this:

Do not push...

Re: USB Camera Stopped working

We're experiencing the same error with our camera. We aren't using the sanctioned Microsoft USB webcam yet (those should arrive this week), but we did have the camera working with the same source...

Re: .net framework help!

First, make sure you have installed any available Windows Updates.

If that doesn't work, you can then try the instructions in this...

Re: Climb and Dump Club

We became extremely cautious in aligning after falling from the 3rd level (and all we broke was a machine screw!) :) I wish we took more opportunities to dump discs, but we changed our strategy after...

Re: Team 1619 Climbing

Yep, we have a disk dumper for the top of the pyramid. This was from a few days ago before we had it mounted.

Re: Team 1619 Climbing

It does look very vicious. We'll take a vote on names in the next couple weeks from our students. The top contenders are variations involving mantis and zergs.

Team 1619 Climbing

Since the build season is coming to a close, here is a video I took a few days ago of our robot climbing the pyramid:

Not shown is our pyramid disk...

Re: pic: Team 999's robot so far

That's a very clever spot for the Digital Sidecar. I'll have to keep that in mind...

Re: pic: 1619 Sneak Peek (Aka, wheel bracket)

We are using BRECOflex belts for the drive. They are work great and we've used them several seasons. We will be climbing the pyramid and these are needed for the clearance of the climbing mechanism.

Re: pic: 2012 Wiring Panel - 1619

We built that ourselves. I believe it's just two standard DB connectors wired straight through and then covered with heat shrink. The lid of our control system was too shallow to use the standard...

Re: Powering Jaguars with 24 volts

Be sure to read Rules R32 and all under 4.1.8. I don't believe any ways of stepping up voltage to motors or servos are legal for FRC.

Re: pic: 2012 Wiring Panel - 1619

Yep, that's a good place to source it. I believe we used Panduit brand wire duct, but it's all pretty much equivalent. It works well for us because we can easily add or remove wires later and it...

Re: Nicest Wiring in FRC

I'd like to nominate my team, 1619. Disclaimer: I don't work on the electrical at all as a programming mentor.

For about three seasons, we have used electrical wire ways to organize our wiring. It's...

Re: Line Sensors: Gaffers Tape versus Carpet Reflectivity

As it turns out, the tape we bought is actually the ProGaff specified by FIRST. So we may be having a problem with our carpet not being the same as the FIRST spec. I'll try some different carpet...

Line Sensors: Gaffers Tape versus Carpet Reflectivity

Today, we got our shipment of gaffers tape in to test our line sensors.

A couple days ago, we had our line sensors and software working like a dream. However, we used duct tape as a stand-in until...

Re: 2011 Veteran Classmate Low Disk Space Errors

Re: "Java, Sun SPOT and the FIRST Robotics Competition"

Java is what they use mainly where I go to college for CS, and I think this is partly because it is a more homogenous system for teaching than C or C++, where there could be many compilers and...

What our team decided to do (which was the least, although still so, controversial) was to focus on using LabView and perhaps secondarily use C or C++ if really get the fire under us going.

Re: pic: What's going on here?

No one really answered this, but crab drive will provide a big advantage, provided anyone implementing has the resources to finish it during the build season.

Skid steer, Ackermann, Tank-style, etc....
