Re: Robot RGB LEDs

I have a long post discussing various addressable LED strips somewhere in my post history, I'll see if I can dig it up. But I will say, regardless of what you decide to use, don't order from a US...

Re: FRC 71 2002 Marching technique

Rules lawyering for last years game wasn't even sporting. If for whatever reason FIRST decides to have another game with 0 interaction between alliances, there's no chance it allows most of the...

Re: OpenMV

OpenMV and the Jetson are not even remotely comparable. For one thing, the Jetson TK1 is actually available. Last I heard, OpenMV was struggling with manufacturer problems with bad solderballs on one...

Re: Dukes of Stronghold GIF Contest: Discussion Thread

Gfycat is a great alternative. Usually makes files a lot smaller than just uploading as .gif would and it lets you slow stuff down without having to mess with the file.

Re: Question About Bumpers (R19, Specifically)

The side there is much greater than 8" there. The side extends from the bottom right corner to the top right corner, even if there is no frame there. The backing from the robot's frame there does not...

Re: How to wire a flashlight?

I just got a batch of those LEDs and I have been wondering how best to power them. Can you use one of the drivers for multiple of those LEDs in series? Like someone above said, LEDs don't follow...

Re: Visual Tracking Help

My team has been able to track both distance and angle to the target pretty reliably based off of GRIP. Search Tower Tracker from the programming subforum, we based our math off of that, but we used...

Re: Taking the Bag out of Bag Day

My understanding of why we have bag day is to make it even for the teams that have to ship their robots halfway around the world to compete. Those teams don't have to worry about getting a practice...

Re: Car Nack Predicts 16-2

Alternate interpretation: Teams will value different traits in their defenses going into higher levels of competition. Teams will pick obstacles that are difficult for weaker competitors to cross at...

Do you have any recommendation for a battery capacity tester?

Re: Using the ADXL345

For what it's worth, gyros are much more accurate in the pitch rotation, which you're attempting to do, at least if you have a smart gyro.

Re: Tower Tracker 1.0

We got it all compiled into a jar and running, but it never seems to open the connection to the camera. It's at the right IP, if we put the address in the code in our browser the mjpg stream comes...

Re: What ESC Could Work for CIMS?

I think the cheap & dirty control system predates the existence of REV Sparks ($45) and SD540($49, 2x$95, 4x$188), both of which are cheaper than those and can take much, much more power which may be...

Re: ITG3200 Gyroscope

My guess is that it does output in degrees. 16 bit 2s complement is fancy way to say "short" as far as Java is concerned. Presumably 1 degree = 1 on the short, 100 degrees = 100 etc.

Re: Rhino track failier?

It seems like the fact that there's an edge rather than a chamfer/fillet where the well for the screwhead begins (radially out from the center) might be a point of failure. All of the fractures...

Re: Out of Spec CIM motor

That's actually really interesting to know, thanks. I always figured it just got sent in place of a proper CIM on year by mistake.

Re: Out of Spec CIM motor

My team has had a CIM which is significantly larger than standard sitting around the shop for quite a while, I'll see if I can get pictures of it later today. I remember it being a larger diameter,...

Re: Chain Tension-er?

I suspect if you could get it to print right with the proper spacing, ABS would have enough flex without being too squishy or too rigid. The trick is getting it right.

As far as spacing, the only...

Re: Touch Sensor Code

The NXT touch sensor only has 2 states, on or off. So no, boolean only.

Re: Serial LED Strip

Those are WS2812s according to the product name, so there's no reason that Adafruit's NeoPixel libraries wouldn't work with them.
