Re: Joule 7 FLIP

Going the race car route, I see. Would this roll cage be a roll cage in the sense that it would protect your components in the even of a flip or would it be a literal roll cage that your robot would...

Re: Can a compressor run during the match?

Well what would the point be of an on board compressor if you can't run the compressor during a match?

Sorry if I sound snarky or rude, not what I want to convey but it's kinda hard through text...

Let me see if this works

Edit: Pooey. You might have to host it on imgur or photobucket instead.

Anyways I suspect this will happen to a...

Re: Battlebots with FRC mentors and FRC suppliers

Yeah, I kind of had an idea that it was just for the sake of "reality drama". I was just wondering if it really was just played up for tv or some of them were just... you know.

Re: Robot birthdays?

Robot birthdays should be bag day (granted everything works).
The first day it drives is kinda like a gestational period, it's developing working limbs and stuff but it's not fully developed.

When...

Re: POV/Top Switch Programming for Java

Forgive me if I make things more confusing, but;

Is the joystick you're using the Logitech 3D one? If it is I believe it is just a hat switch, similar to the xBox controller. I hope this helps some.

Re: Battlebots with FRC mentors and FRC suppliers

Wow that's really cool! I wasn't aware Aptyx had FIRST Mentors, although I should've figured when I saw your sponsors, lol.

Battlebots was actually one of the things that got me into robotics, so...

I think I smell a G12 brewing :P

Only $50,000 equivalent in rubles?
Who needs a Nissan GTR when you can buy two of these bad boys?

Re: Painting Tires Legal?

You'd think they'd just have two sets of wheels painted different colors, no?

Anyways as long as you don't do that and you don't paint the actual tread you should be ok.

Re: Opinion Poll: Proliferation of Prefbricated Parts

I believe P4 was designed and is very useful for rookie, poorly funded, and/or struggling teams. It isn't like you purchase a ROTS and then compete. You still have to do work in terms of getting it...

Re: Mentor Roles

My opinion on this matter probably doesn't matter as much because I am not an adult mentor, but here's what I've noticed now more than ever now that I'm no longer a student member of the team....

Re: pic: Custom encoder mount for Mini CIM/CIM

I like it! Although is there any reason you're direct mounting it instead of on the output shaft of a gearbox or other?

Re: Humorous wit from the GDC

I wonder if that's intentional or not. Things like "chute door" are only funny because they weren't forced and I feel like the chute door meme is being forced now.

Re: "Quotes" that were said during build season

Being a college student mentor I arrive late sometimes because you know college. One time I showed up around 12 when lunch arrived. I was also the one who at the most my last year as a student...

Re: Camera mounted on robot

Not enough detail is given, is this camera for the game or just recording?

If it's for the game any regular USB web camera will do, just plug it into the RIO and make sure that it's coded properly...

gee bill, your mom let you have 2 cameras?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I don't see anything restricting that except maybe bandwidth restrictions?

Re: build season needs to be longer.

This. When I was on this team and now when I come back and "mentor" (term used VERY lightly), first semester finals fall directly in the middle of build season. You may think that this is an argument...

Swerve Drive being used in non-robotics applications

Swerve drive for realsies applications (https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=74&v=f-VUHdmjytM)

Looks like NASA created a swerve drive vehicle. Also gold and white, reminded me of 118 but that's probably...

Interesting, we did not have this problem last year. We don't have this problem this year either because San Diego is a week 6 event which falls right onto spring break (and my birthday!).

However,...
