Re: Where's the defense this year?

If anyone saw the Arizona regional, in Quarterfinals and Semifinals we played defense. It worked quite well, because our alliance was good at offense :)

Re: Favorite Robotics Quotes 2004

In the Quarterfinal match 2, it is was our goal to keep a team from hanging. After they got up onto the platform, I told Korbin (our driver) to try and use the arm to block theirs from reaching the...

Re: Beatty's 2004 Robot

You know, it probably was a bad move on his part for not getting permission first. However, I don't think anyone should flame him over it, especially Beatty ;)

71 is a great team, they should feel...

Re: Beatty's 2004 Robot

Seeing how low it is sitting on the platform, I would imagine it gets up there much like WildStang does this year. They may have a small ball collector, but it's hard to tell :yikes:

Re: pic: 980, 190 and 1011 at AZ

Thank you 980 and 190 for making a great alliance, we enjoyed every minute of our climb to the semifinals! Team 1011 wishes both of your teams the best of luck at your future competitions, we will be...

Re: Do We have a trend here?

They did the best average out of 2 matches last year... it was horrible in my opinion. Best of three accounts for one team just having horrible luck in one of their matches... at least more than 2 ;)

First of all, I would like to give a BIG congrats to MIKE RUSH who won the Woodie Flowers award!!! Not only did he deserve it, as Eric B. said, "It took us seven years to realize just what he truly...

Re: pic: Who needs teasers... here's our arm! [CRUSH: 1011]

Actually, we grab the ball great. We have no problem with hanging onto a ball... I gave it a few good tugs and it WASN'T coming out. We are however looking into adding ball guides, we will decide...

Re: 66 needs your help!

Bouncing how? If it is bouncing in the way I am thinking, it may be because you are accelerating too fast. You could try and fix this in programming by making your drive motors gradually increase to...

Re: pic: Claw^2 Concept

The hardest part we found when building our arm was getting it rigid. You may want to experiment with having two support bars instead of just one pole. We found this helped with making the arm rigid...

Re: pic: Rolling Base

Hehe, great job! It's always exciting to get the first 'roll' from your base isn't it? :D

And don't get discouraged by the three week mark! We did not have ANYTHING metal built until the fourth week...

Re: pic: 639 Vertical Adjustment Rover

That would just be really cool, the hardest part though would be to get it to actually lift a 130 pounds. My first guess would be that the wheels would slip, any idea on how to keep that from...

Re: pic: Who needs teasers... here's our arm! [CRUSH: 1011]

Thanks, hehe... we just clamped it up there to test it. To all those teams that don't have machine shops... either do we. You CAN build a working arm with sheet metal screws, aluminum tubing, a...

Re: pic: Team 60 Drive Train Parts

Well I didn't go to the mechanical workshop at the AZ Kickoff like I wanted to, but they apparently announced their cooperation with 254 during it. If I heard correctly, 60 is making parts a, b and c...

Re: pic: Team 954 Preview: Heavy duty Master Link

It is always a good engineering habit to take the side load off of your motors. Without the second pillow block, what happens is that your motor is now being pulled from side to side. This is often...

Now I heard a rumor that you guys and 254 were working on this gearbox together? Is that true? Very cool guys! :yikes:

Re: pic: Team 954 Preview: Heavy duty Master Link

I am deeply concerned about the sprockets you are using... LOTS OF WEIGHT!!!! :ahh:

If you can get the same gear reduction with smaller gears... use the smaller ones.... and from the looks of it, it...
