Re: 2012 Boston Regional

Whoops! I forgot to post my photos from the regional in this thread.

They can be found here. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/17957598@N05/sets/72157629689773185/)

Usually I tag the teams in the...

Re: 2011 Newton Division

This was a great division to play in. While it was a bit of a bummer that we weren't picked, the competition was great to watch. Those alliances were intense. I definitely spent most of my time over...

Re: Championship 2011 - St Louis - Your Thoughts Please?

Now that I'm finally home from my long travel saga, I'll add my 2 cents:

The Good:

Volunteers and media were very well taken care of this year. The media room was great. We were fed well and all...

Re: The Spirit Award - What Is Its Value?

The Spirit Award is awesome. Spirit was a very big part of my experience in FIRST when I was a student. Cheering, dancing, spreading wacky spirit in the pit...it was something that I could contribute...

Re: Championship 2010 - Atlanta - Your Thoughts Please?

Playing by the rules? I think so.
FIRST spirit involves playing fair.

I entirely agree. However, not all teams see it in such a way. Many maintain an "in it to win it" attitude, which sometimes...

Re: Championship Photos

All my photos (well, more like 22% of what I actually took) can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/17957598@N05/sets/72157623767835733/

As usual, tried to shoot as many teams as I could. I...

Re: Championship 2010 - Atlanta - Your Thoughts Please?

I agree. Curie was especially crowded during eliminations, what with team media, regular media, and VIPs coming to see 1114/469 play. In my opinion, there are enough people down on the field as it is.

Re: Championship 2010 - Atlanta - Your Thoughts Please?

As a couple folks have already mentioned, some teams do seem to like using a team media badge to have an extra mentor or student on the floor. I personally spotted a few. I think it's unfortunate...

The crate in the middle is 88.
I painted it in 2007 (well, the 3 paint-splattered sides). :p

Re: 2010 Boston Regional

I'm a little late with these, but I've finally got all my photos up from the event:

Re: The Blue Alliance, What Happened?

This is something right up my alley. While I rarely post them to Chief Delphi, I do my best at every event to photograph as many teams as I can. For one, photos can serve as a useful scouting tool....

Re: pic: No way that just happened! (Two 35-ft supercells scored!)

I was standing right there (since I took the pics :p ) and it was phenomenal. On the higher resolution photos, you can just see the expressions of the folks in the crowd- pure amazement and...

Re: 2009 IRI (Indiana Robotics Invitational)

This was my first time coming to IRI (and the Midwest!) and it lived up to its legendary status. The event is run extraordinarily well, better than some regionals I've seen. I only made the decision...

Re: Announcing BC10 -- May 8-9 at WPI!

This is the first time in a few years I haven't been able to attend Saturday, but it will be the first year I come Friday night!

I hope Friday is as much of a party as I've heard it is..:D

Re: Why did you join FIRST?

I wish I had a great inspirational story (that's more like after I joined FIRST...), but I'll be honest - at the time, I figured it would look good for college. I knew a few people on the team, but...

This is right down my alley...

First off, I've done a lot of media work in the Boston area the past few years, trying to get FIRST as much coverage as possible. So these are my tips to you:

I'll add to the photos, too -

I may add more come the weekend, but I didn't take as many photos as I usually do at events (only...

Re: How far have you gotten in "100 Bottles of Milk on the Wall"...

Odd thread to revive but it brings back a good memory - On the bus to NJ in 2006, some of the seniors thought it would be fun to start the song, but not without simultaneously teasing our chemistry...

Re: FIRST Robots: Behind the Design - Lunacy

There's always the possibility to look into print-to-order services, like Lulu or Xlibris. I'm not very familiar with them, but if a couple people could design a book and get all the teams involved,...

Re: Question for Team Alumni who Volunteer

Since graduating, I've taken it upon myself to get my own room separate from the team. I've found this eliminates certain logistics like the amount of money paid to the team, etc. It also gives me...
