Re: pic: FRC 2869 - 2016 Offseason bot

That thing looks pretty familiar... :P

But seriously, we love that picture. That was a fun match.

Re: Custom Gearboxes

We've used a variety of components, but I think you'll find that the majority of custom gearboxes in FRC use 1/2" hex shafts and 1.125" OD flanged hex bearings with 20dp hex broached aluminum or...

Re: Some interesting photos found in STEAMWORKS scene

Anyone find it interesting that they showed a ramp attached to the robot work bench at 0:15? Could it mean possible changes to cart/lifting rules?

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

I dont think Ruckus has ever had a problem with attendance. It's been around 40 teams each year,. Considering the quality of the event, I'd be shocked if that changes anytime soon.

Who knew we snagged a world class defense bot in 1405.

Re: Best FRC moments ever

I assume you're talking about Archimedes Quarterfinals 1? That's one I'm glad I got to see in person.

Re: FRC to be at the 2020 Olympics?

When a highschool sports team watches their world finals (ie. teams composed of the best possible members and trained to perform), does it serve as a detriment or an inspiration? I'm inclined to...

Re: 2016 IRI Invitations -

You learn something new every day

I have a feeling Kevin is slightly more pumped about one of those teams over the other due a disproportionate sodium distribution.

Re: [FRC Blog] The 2016 Season, by the Numbers

Would the shootout be the endgame or autonomous?

I'm imagining a 2015 style split-second race :P

Re: Stronghold rant...

With all due respect, if you've lost interest at a regional after an hour because of the game alone, then you've missed out on the other 90% of a FIRST Robotics Competition event. I think the fact...

Re: 2016 Carver Subdivision

I absolutely loved the aggression you guys were able to play with while not committing excessive fouls. 5870 definitely had a spot on 20's defense pick list and the number was brought up and...

I guess I'll take a stab at upstate New York...

1. 5254 - The 5 poofs have been phenomenal from their inception in 2014. We on 20 have had the awesome experience of working and practicing with them...

Re: 2016 World High Score

I actually came across that match just after I posted and was totally blown away by the accuracy of both bots. You'll have to forgive me for making the mistake of skimming over Indiana a bit too...

Re: 2016 World High Score

I'd just like to point out that the 194 was WITHOUT fouls, and no alliance member had a climb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that alliance had what I believe was the most powerful high goal...

Congratulations! We were so happy when the second wildcard was generated at FLR, knowing that our friends from a few exits up I-87 would qualify. The robot 3044 produced this season is unfathomably...

Re: Team 111 - WildStang 2016

Fantastic robot! I'm excited to see Wildstang as strong as ever.

Can you give some details on the drivetrain? I can't tell exactly what's going on there by the pictures or video.

While that could be circumvented by having the receiving team involved in the production, 5.5.2 states that:

Now if the one robot entered is significantly modified instead of replaced, that would...

Re: Student or Adult Coach

We've been running student coaches since 2011. It works. It just takes some additional effort to ensure that the drive team dynamic is good and strategy is adaptable on the fly. We have a strategy...

Re: FRC 5969 - Rookie Robot is driving!

Do you guys have plans for fabricating and mounting bumpers? If your team is only able to meet 4 more times before bag and tag, at this point I'd suggest focusing entirely on making the robot...

For a moment, I was excited over what looked like a robot optimized for something other than the low bar. Ahh, well... Looks like we'll be far from alone in our decision ;)

Nonetheless, a fantastic...

Re: IRI - 2015 Rule Modification Ideas?

Completely agree. Having looked into the geometry of a "can burglar" system, the geometry is pretty tight for the common dual arm mechanism, and losing the 2 or 3 inches from flipping the upside down...

Re: World Qualification Ranks

I don't mean to take away from the teams on these lists, but qualification scores are highly dependent on the depth of the particular event, and I think that it misrepresents the abilities of teams....
