Re: Team 2883 electoral board

Nice "electoral board". Its good to see a true American team building a robot that runs on democracy.

Re: Triaging Lost Teams

Stands for Minimum Competitive Concept. Its based on what the simplest/easiest manipulator you can build to make a contribution to your alliance.

I think often times, especially young teams see the...

Re: pic: Fully Automatic Tee Shirt Cannon - Pic 2

I would recommend also looking at team 254's Shockwave. Similar design I think. They have some documentation on their website. http://team254.com/shockwave/

Re: Former NASA person trying to small spacecraft projects to FIRST

I forwarded this to my old team in MN. I think someone else already asked, but do you envision this program being available anywhere, or only in specific areas? I imagine that transporting satellites...

Re: THOR - Team 3313 Robot Reveal

Sweet robot, both functionality and aesthetics/theme!

I couldn't tell from watching the video: is catching the ball entirely operator control and timing, or does the ball hitting the gripper...

Re: Aerial Assist--Perspective from a low-resource team

You design your shooter to have variable range/arcs so that you could shoot more vertical for the truss and a flat trajectory for scoring in the goal. Just be careful that your "improvements" don't...

Re: What did we learn from week 2 of the 2013 season?

My former team learned the hard way about the importance of sticking to scouting data rather than gut feelings. The scout leads collected data throughout the tournament at Lake Superior and came up...

Re: [FRCTop25.com]- Premiere Night!

I was wondering the past few days why there were so few reveals on CD. Now I know. I'll definitely be watching.

Re: The Robonauts 118 - 2013 Video

How is it driving up the pole? It looks like two wheels slightly pointed toward each other, with a notch to go over the crossbars, but I couldn't tell.

Re: pic: 177 Teaser!!

Did I here Twilight Zone? Sorry guys, my team no longer has any Win-pumps in stock...

(Actually, in all seriousness, we call our team intranet the Twilight Zone).

Any way, I second the hope that...

Re: pic: BaneBots v1 Grearbox

If they reproduce motors during the match, do we get penalized for more than the alloted number of motors on our brobot?

Re: FRC Blogged - Two Feet of Snow?

Never heard of Minnesota closing roads for snow, at least not near the cities where my team is. Last year, we had about 2 ft of snow on Sunday and we dutifully showed up for school the next day.

I...

Re: Suction gripper

I would actually recommend against swerve drive unless you have prior experience with it--too many points of failure; it isn't robust in my experience. (Granted, we only tried it once. There are...

Re: 3397 Drives!

It will be completely legal.

The manual has long been updated to address this situation. I will refer you to read the bumper rules yourself, but in short, the 8" are measured along the frame...

Re: Team 3313 Practice Run #2

My guess is that they want to be able to push if need be. I personally think that 13-14fps is a bit fast for a single speed, and I would personally rather have the traction wheels rather than omnis....

Re: pic: Team 48 - Go wide or go home!

Looks like you got it figured out before me. I was thinking it would make a decent roller (with tread of course) to pick up frisbees from the floor.

Re: CEPHAS 1860 - 10 POINTS/30 POINTS CLIMB

I dont think it is as complicated as everyone else is saying. They can take the same mechanism they have and duplicate it, then mount it so they can pivot it forward to engage the next bar.

Re: pic: Size comparison.

I can think of a number of ways to do this: A flop bot would be relatively easy to implement I believe, if weren't for the pesky bumpers at starting config, but it could still be done. You could have...

Re: MORT Team 11 Weeks 1-3

Why does Mort Beta have a low team number if it is a relatively new team?

Also, I thought my team was large! We are the largest team in MN (last time I checked), with about 80 students. We started...

Re: I need help in a task our mentors gave me

I don't have access to our pictures right now, but have you considered looking at http://www.frc-designs.com/? They have videos, photos, and CAD drawings of a good number of robots, organized by game.

Re: Building two bots

Mostly for my team this year, money was the limiting factor. We have nearly 80 kids on the team now (I think this may include the FTC kids too though), so we have subteams on drivetrain, 2 subteams...

Re: Do you think air currents will be an issue?

A defensive robot may use a fan to intentionally misdirect the frisbees. I don't know how effective this would be, but I remember some bots used ducted fans in Lunacy.

Re: Best motor/gearing option to drive a shooter?

This makes sense to me, but I couldn't explain to a mentor why you wouldn't want to run the motor at its free speed. Why wouldn't it be consistent at its free speed? Is it just because there isn't...

The biggest thing I would say is not to wait for someone to give you something to do. I have also found that people who put in work ahead of time to learn CAD or programming or some other unique...
