They are shafts for Transmissions. The slot towards the rear is to accommodated the dog gear to allow shifting.

229/4124 used 4 7/8" orange banebot wheels this year and we were very pleased with them. They grip quite well (barring the right compression) and shoot the discs very accurately. Like the posts...

You can also get a little more rigorous with the lightening pattern. Try triangles and maybe even isogrid. (Unless your sheetmetal sponsor cannot do these types of cuts.

I agree with you that 359 was the best at getting frisbee from the feeder station. But 3824 had the highest shooting percentage and usually had 6 cycles per match. 359 was only getting 4-5. 3824 also...

We are currently running the wheel cantilevered with the output shaft. We may find that we want to support the shaft but during testing we fired over 500 shots with no problems found.
