Re: Best places to eat

Smoki O's Bar-B-Que is awesome. We got our lunch there all three days last year. Prices were reasonable and the food was great.

Re: Iowa Regional 2016

Team 171 had a great time at the first Iowa Regional. Huge thanks to our partners 5442 and 2512. 5442, you guys sure didn't seem like a second year team. You had a phenomenal robot, and I think...

Re: How old is your oldest robot

Our oldest robot that is still functional is from 2003, we get it out sometimes for driver practice. We also have our 1995 robot minus the electronics. We actually have pretty much all of our old...

Re: Clash of Objectives.

You seem to be implying that the goal of winning is detrimental to the goal of inspiring students.

Winning in my book is the ultimate method of inspiration, it is a culmination and validation of...

Re: Alliance Partner Gifts/Giveaways

By far the coolest alliance gift/give away I have received is a hat from 2056 they gave members of their partner's drive teams at World Championships in 2013. I'm not sure if that is something they...

Re: Free Old Motors

Well, I guess you learn something new every day. How long were these around in the kit of parts? Those threads are from 2002, were they used any other year? Did people use the "built in" output...

Re: Free Old Motors

Not really, rather than an 8mm round output shaft, the shaft has splines on it. Unfortunately, all the spline shaft motors are spoken for, as well as all the globe motors. We are still working out...

I rarely posted as a student for fear of having the "wrong" opinion. As a student it can be quite intimidating to put your thoughts out for the scrutiny of the wider community. Side note, I...

Re: A Request

I suppose I would be one of those people you are asking to stop looking down on FTC, so I feel like I should explain why I do. I would not say FTC is necessarily inferior to FRC, it does have its...

Re: What are the correct terms for linkages and lifts

What is a fore-bar linkage? A quick google search turned up a bunch of results about four bar linkages (as well as this thread). I'm curious what you are talking about.

Was Aerial Assist Better than Ultimate Ascent?

I know after last season many people were singing the praises of Ultimate Ascent as the best FRC game ever. As I think back on this year, at least from my perspective as a drive coach, I found the...
