Re: New Championship Layout 2015

Don't rule it out. It's only about 2/10ths of a mile from the door of building B to the doors of the new stadium. As long as there is a path from the convention center into the stadium for the...

Re: New Championship Layout 2015

The airport is also worth some concern. Flights were much more expensive and harder to come by this year. Large increase in the amount of people coming in to town? Yikes! Lambert is not very big.

Re: Secret Sauce: Shot to Human Player

I wasn't sure about this strategy prior to joining y'alls alliance for elimination, but it works amazingly. I really think some more practice with the human player/alignment stuff and the right...

Re: Where is gonna be located the 2014-2015 Championship?

The Georgia Dome is currently scheduled to be demolished following the 2016-17 football season. That means the championship would only be held in Atlanta for 2015,16 and maybe 17 depending on the...

Re: Does M.I.T./Yale Success = FIRST Dean's List Finalist/Winner?

I received the Dean's List finalist award my senior year, so it was already past the point where it would have helped me get into schools. However, I do not believe that it would have changed the...

Re: Best way to estimate the best defense bot

It's probably not the best method, but I had our scouts watching for collisions between robots. Give a point for a collision won, take a point away for a collision lost. Find the ratio between the...

Re: 7-Shot Autonomous Club

I'll add 1311 to the list of hopefuls for the 7 frisbee. Got the pick up system working halfway through Smoky Mountains, just didn't have enough time while there to get the tweaks done in...

Re: Einstein Field issues Handled correctly?

Weather radar uses microwave radio pulses that would not have any effect on other wireless signals. Otherwise your internet would drop every time the radar makes a rotation (radars run at all times,...

Re: Einstein Field issues Handled correctly?

In regards to the weather possibly playing a factor into interference with the WiFi:

I'm by no means a radio-frequency or weather expert so I just had a conversation with some guys in the...

Re: Archimedes 2012!

The pic you have for 1311 is team 2614's robot, I believe. I'll try and get you a correct one, unfortunately all I have is a video of the original, overweight machine.

Re: Divisions 2012

Don't forget 2974!

Amazing that 4 of the 6 Georgia teams are in Archimedes. It'll be fun to play with some of our friends from Peachtree and all of the other great teams in the division.

Any chance that this will be recorded and posted online for those of us who are stuck in classes? I'm working with a few others at Virginia Tech to get something started out here, and we'd love to...

Re: Championship 2014 Proposal

Maybe I'm a little biased, but I loved the championship in Atlanta. And if FIRST really wanted to expand the event, I don't believe they have ever used the full GWCC. It may be too far down the road...

Re: Sippin' on the haterade

I can think back to my first memory of team 1771 back when I was sophomore. Their robot was ridiculously good. Ours had a lot of pool noodles and zip ties. Theirs won some awards, ours surely did...

Re: Predictions Week 3: Full Court Press

Re: pic: Robot Concept CAD

If you're trying to keep it simple, why not just use the kitbot frame that comes in the kit of parts? You won't have to pay for anything extra, it comes together very quickly, and it's been proven to...

At this point, who knows. What all we do is still somewhat up in the air. Like Tim mentioned, we know we want to create a community here to support FIRST alumni and FIRST in the area.

I've thought...

Depends on what the situation is. Are you a high school team or are you a group encompassing multiple schools?

IMO, if you are one high school it's better to stay at the school. Yes you will have an...

Re: Team 95 Thermographics

I love these images. People didn't believe me when I said our window motor was hot enough to burn my hand at our last public event (speaking of, these robots can make for some awesome demos).
