Re: Lathe Suggestions

My mistake. A quick search led me to Hardinge DV-59 lathes, not the HLV-H I expected. After looking more, I also would gladly accept a $3k HLV-H

Re: Cheapish CNC machine

Do you have any machining companies nearby? Sometimes it is less expensive for a company to donate an old CNC to a FRC team than it is to dispose of it. FIKE Corporation in Kansas City did just that...

Re: Fun to do at St Louis

Re: Legal Encoders

If using this on the arm, use the encoder stage between your last planetary stage and your output shaft so you get your encoder counts with per shaft revolution rather than needing a ratio of counts...

Re: Driver Station/Operator Console Power

A 3 amp breaker seems very small, but don't let it scare you. You get ~360 watts, we can say 300 watts safely. My MacBook Pro has an 85 watt charger and that seems reasonable as an average for a...

Re: Top 5 Teams In Your State/Area before CHAMPS

Asking out of curiosity, where is the MO State Champs ranking system posted/how did you calculate it?

I've seen discrepancy between this and another post about order.

Thanks

Sperkowsky,

My rookie year seems to have paralleled yours in many ways. Being the naïve freshman that I was, liked to brag, I wanted to tell others off, I came very close to revealing a robot...

Re: Windows versus Mac

I prefer Macs to PCs but neither platform is perfect and both have huge shortcomings.

Pros of Macs

Smaller learning curve
More thought was put into creating the hardware
Speed of the OS even on...

Re: Simple LED Light Connection

If you don't care about having control of them (on/off from roboRIO), you can just wire them in to the PDP.
