For powering a computer in a car, an easy solution is a DC/AC inverter. You can usually find these at electronics stores, probably RadioShack, and probably automotive stores.

Here're a few examples. I'm no electronics expert (but I know there're more than a few who frequent these forums ), but I'd suggest getting one of the 150 watt inverters, or higher. Typical AT/ATX PSUs are >200 watt, and nowadays typically from 300-400, if I recall correctly. If the box is running headless, without a cd-drive, and much else in the way of peripherals, I'd think that a 150 watt inverter would work.

As for controlling it, a serial mouse and mpg123?
