Yes, and the 2-pin cable shielding just gets cut away.

The black wire on the solenoid is ground, so make sure the corresponding wire on the 2-pin cable gets plugged into the (-) ground on the solenoid breakout pins.

So if you connected the white wire to black the other end of the 2-pin cable needs to have white on the solenoid breakout (-) pin.
