Can This Drive My Robot?

Im a rookie member on a rookie team just learning Lab View and our control system is not working right (jaguars are not getting a connection to the cRIO (gets a loss of servo link error)) but that is not my question right now as i have a thread for that in the control system board. my question is whether i am doing the software right.

assuming that the robots control system is hooked up properly (everything is properly wired to the correct pwm channels, etc) will doing these steps allow me to execute a program to control the robot with a joystick. i dont care if there are easier ways to do it, i just want to know if this method will work.

1)open a new lab view project (putting in the right ip address for the cRIO)
2)on the file directory screen, right click and add the arcade example (from the examples) vi to the cRIO project.
3)open up the arcade example
4)go to the top left of the screen and hit the arrow to deploy/run the program
(i should be able to drive the robot now)
5)profit =)

thanks a lot for help in advance, if i didnt explain something clearly enough i can add to this.
