Re: Best parts in KOP to build the arm?
I can't think of many parts (aside from latex tube spring, igus shaft and bearings, and a window motor and adapter) in the KOP that you could use to build an arm.
we used mostly locally available parts to build both our tube pickup/hanging arm, and our minibot deployment arm:
1.5" and 2" ABS tube (sewer pipe for main telescoping arm)
3/8" x 5" bolt (pivot)
1" x 1" x 1/16" square aluminum tube (support tower)
1/8" aluminum sheet (pivot side plates)
10" V belt pulley
2.25" V belt pulley
Plastic rod (machined to become a pulley to axle bushing)
V belt
This is stuff you can get at the local hardware and building supply stores.
