They look great, but it looks like it's quite noticeably deflecting. You might have more success with a stiffer material.
Otherwise, looks great.

Its actually a long piece of fiberglass that is painted red. The problem in the photo isn't the material of the arm. When this photo was taken we had a weaker hinge in our arm that was pending. We have replaced it with a more heavy duty one and it is now much better. Another problem in this photo was that one of the gas springs is actually stronger than the other because a 50 looks a lot like a 60. We have since fixed that problem and it is not warping sideways. At least through all that we learned that the fiberglass can take some force. We have been very pleased with the material.

That touch sensor idea is intriguing. If I happen to see you at some point this Competition season, I'll have to check it out. Good luck at your regionals.

I'll try to get some photos of it and post them but its basically just a limit switch at the back of our claw and when its triggered it turns on a bright light on the top of our bot.

Ever since 2008, I genuinely look forward to seeing the robot that 694 puts on the field each year. There is something familiar about their team, and the quality the build; an 'it' factor that I can't quite describe. Thanks for the picture, looking forward to dueling in NYC.

Thanks for the kind words. I get a similar feeling about your bots. Your designs are always very unique and awesome. Ever since we aligned in Trenton in 08 I've been watching cold fusion and I was very pleased to find out that you guys were attending NY this year.
