Re: Waterford District Event

Waterford was a fantastic event!

I was only around on Saturday, but energy was high and the stands filled throughout! Besides that, the level of competition was as expected for a Michigan event, and seeing logos every which way was certainly a bonus.

3539, 548, and 3620, very well played in the eliminations, and a blue banner to ice the cake. Congratulations!

548, where did you come from?? It seemed like everything was going wrong, but suddenly it was all right, and your minibot went speeding up the pole in just a second! Fantastic performance, and the Chairman's Award to top it off! 3539, very nice pick!

573, top seed and Industrial Design Award Winners, you played excellent! It all seemed to come crashing down in the eliminations, but you Mech Warriors will rumble on to fight another day, and I wish you the best of luck at Ann Arbor!

The finalists played great as well. 2834 was one team that made impressive improvements over a lackluster Kettering performance. I hope to see you Defending State Champs in Ypsilanti again this year!

3098 was another impressive team. other teams seemed to be all the rage, before a Saturday where you stamped your dominance. By selection time, it was clear you were the top choice. I hate to say it, but between you and 548, there were at least two minibots at Waterford faster than ours!

There were a few more very good teams, but for the sake of readability, I must move on...

The volunteer crew = AWESOME. I heard you were actually ahead at the end of Friday, before Red 3 hung you out to dry? Great improvement over a Kettering with several hours of delay! Oh yeah, and you didn't kick me out when I kept getting in your way... Heheh

Speaking of which, I had a lot of fun photographing the competition! All my photos are currently being uploaded, and will be available here. Note that I am no Dan Ernst, and in comparison to his my pictures are lackluster at best!

Personally, I'll be glad if you use them, but please give credit where it is due. Note that the uploaded pictures are only about 2 MP, due to space constraints. If you'd like one or a few specific photographs in their original 8 MP, shoot me an email, I'd be happy to send them over.
