I think they probably took a lot of footage of FIRST, and then had to condense it down to a few minutes of airtime. They had to take much more than needed, because they couldn't be sure what would be good material, and what would be bad.
Something similair happened to our team for an A&E special. We had people interviewed, and our pits filmed, and the only thing that was shown was footage of us deflating one of the big balls in a practice match (2001 game).
I actually kinda liked that though
