I'm not sure exactly where the rookie numbers start this year  , but there are at least 6 teams who qualified with numbers in the higher 3000s. About 10% rookie seems par for the course.

If you were in the #8 seed, making it to the semifinals is very unlikely. I can say this because my team went 12-11-1 in qualifying then became the 8th seed captain,
twice. My team also won the imagery award, which is worth 2 points. Had we won an award worth 5 points, we would have ended up with 50 qualifying points, thus qualifying for states.
