Today when I watched the SV regional through webcast (I wasn't actually there), I did see an alliance where all three tubes were scored by each robot. So I think the claim is a bit of an overstatement.

But I agree that 3 teams is better, because if a team can consistently do autonomous (score one ubertube) then they are likely a good team.
If i can remember correctly (GVSU was a while ago) in elimination there was i think 5 ubbers up and the sixth was a miss... as long as the bots do what they are supposed to and go in on a straight path there is plenty of room for every bot to score in auton.
