You do know that the battle of Britain was largely won with plywood airplanes.
Combined with modern fibers & resin matrices (IE fiberglass) plywood is incredibly strong & light. Not to mention that it can be worked with primitive tools for those of us that do not have access to laser cutters or water jets. Great shock & fatigue properties as well.
I do not if we will ever use it, but it has a lot of great properties.
