The "fun" (where you see ridiculous tides) parts of the Bay of Fundy are a full day (8 hours) of driving away in Canada. Eastport does get a neat whirlpool though.

If you want great views of the coast, Acadia National Park is probably your better bet. Bar Harbor has more than enough touristy goodies if hiking isn't your thing, or after you've driven to the top of Cadillac Mountain. Rockland/Camden are only an hour and half away from Oakland and are also a nice place to spend a day or two.
