Looking at the labview project, it didn't see anything that looked like autonomous independent. I don't think it would be very hard to add, but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if it was already there. For periodic tasks, it looks like additional loops could be added to HW_Interface, or to minimize messing with the framework, another vi could be added in parallel.
