What to expect when drafting/A typical draft
This is a rough timeline of what happens in a draft.
AM of draft day: The tiers and random lists are posted. The random lists will be in this thread; the tiers will have their own thread. Tiers are randomly assigned. Sometimes this happens the night before (early) or the afternoon of (late).
7:00 PM, draft day: Drafts are officially open. However, under the rules, as long as everyone ahead of you in the draft has drafted, go right ahead as soon as you find out that your slot is open. Your slot "closes" when the slot behind yours opens up (at the time listed). At that time, you will be assigned a random team if you have not made a pick either in person or via list.
A note on draft order: We run a serpentine pattern, 1-n, n-1, 1-n, with turns changing every 5 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute respectively.
End of Draft: When the last pick is made (or assigned), the trading period is open. Trades may be made with the pool of available teams or with another player (if both players are willing). Up until midnight, dropped teams go to the available teams pool (except for the case of a player dropping out); after that time or if the player dropped out of the league, any dropped teams go to the waiver system.
Between the end of the draft and the week of the event: Trades may be made, teams add or drop the events (waivers are in use to deal with that--see the waiver thread or the SLFF rules), and robots get built.
The week of the event: drafts lock at midnight the night before the event. Any missing teams for a given event at that time are replaced by random teams. It's in your best interest to check that all your teams will be there before the drafts lock!
One other thing: If you make a request for a team, and it isn't enacted in the next tier update, wait one tier update and check again before asking again. Chances are, whoever's running the draft was typing up the next tier update post when you posted the request.
