I dunno, in many drafts I can put together a stronger alliance by not being #1 in the draft order. Somewhere in the middle, say around 4th or 5th, seems to work really well. (Though how I got my #4, #5, and #6 teams in Toronto last night picking 4th of 6, I really don't know...)
