That a brief overview that I've come across so far. Also there is a Kinect SDK you can dowload as well here. I haven't looked into that because you need windows 7 to install it and I'm at my XP computer. AS far as other documentation you should be able to find some more on FIRST's website and possibly microsofts's as well, although the Java API for FRC has alot of information on it.
