What exactly is a Banner sensor anyway? What is their function?
Banner sensors are photo-electric sensors which FIRST uses in "Retroreflective Mode." Long story short, our sensors contain both an emitter and a receiver. Special retroreflective tape a certain distance away (0-21 ft. for our models I think) will bounce the signal (light) from the emitter back to the receiver, thus allowing the circuit to complete. Basically, using the sensors with special tape, one can know 1. Where the tape is located (and henceforth the location of an object attached to the tape) and 2. The sensors can watch for a break in the signal, thus knowing if something has stepped between the sensor and the tape.
