I just quickly did this back of napkin calculation:

Bumper per side = 8"
Max intake width = Front - 2*Bumper
=28-16
=12

and
2. How are you going to get a decent intake in just 12 inches. (The wide orientation at 22" is leaps and bounds better, if not spectacularly large).
