The 6 unch wheels won't go "slower" so to speak, they will just have a smaller rotation than the larger 8 inch wheels. one rotation for the 8 inch wheel is larger than one rotation for the 6 inch wheel.

However, we've found some great success with 6 inch wheels, so try both. Do it right and you have a winning design.
