I ran your experiment using IE, and I didn't get quite the differences. I saw between 100 and 170 for IE and 140 and 200 for LV. I also notice that the cpu usage is a bit higher for LV. Basically, it look like the diagram copying of the buffer or something similar does add some overhead.
