Re: [FRC-Designs.com] FRC Slideshow: Every Robot 2012

I'm glad this photo gallery is happening this year.

Reminds me of http://web.archive.org/web/200801140...trobotics.net/

On the issue of "hiding" your robot as mentioned in the earlier posts on this thread I have a comment or 2. While I appreciate & somewhat respect the fact that a team doesn't want a pic of their robot posted online, I have to disagree completely with the idea of not allowing anyone to do that due to a realistic point of view.

In my opinion as soon as you attend your first competition, your robot is "public" and there will be pics taken of it. This is not limited to just an overall pic, but close-ups of effective, & cool designs, & sweet mechanisms.
We do this very thing in our scouting efforts. If a team didn't allow a pic of their robot to be taken, then it limits their public relations with other teams, & hinders partnership in the elimination matches if we were in the role of being able to pick a team.

We on Team 237 highly ENCOURAGE pictures of our robots & any mechanisms to be taken at events as well as ask us questions about them. We usually release a stock image of our completed robot at the time of shipping as well - but not before unless it's a teaser pic during week 1-6.

There is absolutely no harm in people using our ideas on their robots in our opinion.

The thought process behind not allowing pics to be taken/posted until the end of the season to me personally is ridiculous.

(Sorry Dustin & Akash, I gotta disagree with you both on this issue...)
