Kinect for Windows (New Hardware version of the Kinect)

Several people have posted about running the Kinect on the robot, and having it do distance sensing. I am not trying to do that. However I found this and thought it would be interesting for the CD community

Microsoft Kinect for Windows

This new version of the Kinect is designed specifically for DIY projects. What's really interesting is it's near mode that allows it to accurately range objects at 50cm instead of the 3ft for the standard Kinect. This could lead to interesting uses in future games (or this one if you're so inclined to try it). You would need to buy this new version of the Kinect to get the increased range.
