I think your website is slick, but not quite there yet. The biggest problem of your website is that your theme is slow, easily creates Boxception (at least in Chrome), and makes some information difficult to access (readability). Significant disadvantages like that should not outweigh aesthetics.
A good example of matching aesthetics with good content is
the AdamBots's website. They won the Website award last year (and HIGHLY deserved it; theirs is better than many professionally designed websites!).
