I agree with the above posts that there is absoluteley no easy way to model a human. And thats just modeling. Texturing and animation are 2/3 of the work load there too, unless you are planning on having a still, completely grey character. Really, you shouldnt attempt this unless you have a ton of time(like over 120+ hours) on your hands or if you already are very experienced with other areas of max or another modeling program. I would suggest going to some of the tutorial sites and looking around if you really want to do this.

Oh yeah, if you wanna do it the cheap way, go and buy Poser 4 for $400 and use one of the ready made models. But I personnally dont like that program as I think the animation is kind of crappy and the interface is downright confusing. Plus, you can only change the models so much until they start looking very weird.

If you just decided to put a character in your animation and this is your first year, I would say that it may be a little too ambitious for you. If you have someone willing to put in that much time, then go for it but have a backup plan cuz It might not turn out the way you think it will.
