FIRST should really think things through from start to finish.
I know that it is unlikely that the CRIO is going anywhere soon, but that doesn't mean that we have to keep everything else.
If I were king, I think I'd look hard at a PDBoard that was 3-4" think, essentially nothing but relays, FET and fins, hermetically sealed with a brain to do the switching, a big fat battery connection for current going in, a bunch of smaller (Non Wago please) connections where the current goes out to the motors.
I think it makes a ton of sense.
