[FTC]: Special Guest at VA Champs this weekend

Greetings!

Got the following email from our VA FIRST rep. VERY excited to hear the news that Woodie Flowers will be joining us to celebrate 48 teams accomplishments this year!

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who are venturing off to competitions this weekend: Good luck, safe travels, and have a blast.

For the rest of you, I am issuing a special invitation for you to join us this coming Saturday, March 3, for the FIRST Tech Challenge Virginia Championship. 48 teams will compete - the largest group ever assembled in Virginia for an FTC competition. The game this year, Bowled Over, is really fun to watch. Balls are loaded into small containers, and scored based on how high they are held off the floor. The end game involves pushing a bowling ball up a ramp to score additional points. Imagine the challenge if the FRC robots had to push a 6.5-lb. ball up a ramp!

There will also be an Junior FIRST LEGO League Expo, where the youngest FIRSTies from around the state will gather to present their projects and ideas in the Snack Attack challenge.

Our special guest is really special. We are honored to welcome Dr. Woodie Flowers to this year's FTC Championship. Woodie will be on hand during the early part of the day, and he is always pleased to spend time with the volunteers and students in FIRST programs. We hope you can help us show Woodie some Southern hospitality.

The Championship will be held in Richmond at the Arthur Ashe Center, 3001 North Boulevard - close to both I-95 and I-64. Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 10:30, and matches will run until about 5:00.

Hope to see you there!
Dee
If you are in the Richmond area this Saturday, please stop by and show your support for the great FTC teams competing!

If you come to a FRC event to see a robot competition, you are missing the point.
