At Rutgers our team, along with 75 and 41 all had a similar problem to that described above, except that none of us could connect to the field at all.
Long story short, the automatic radio configuration system was not configuring the radio properly. When we configured it manually (with the explicit approval of the FTA) we were good.
Perhaps checking the radio configuration for oddnesses might help?
