Re: Rules for Rookie All Star 2012

In MAR (which works the same way as FiM), District Rookie All Star earns the team a slot to present--not compete with their robot--at the Region/State Championship. There, you have a 1 in n (n=5 in MAR, n=9 in FiM) to qualify for Worlds. The rationale is that, while you don't get points or automatically get to compete with your robot at the Region/State Championship, you do have a 1 in n chance to qualify for Worlds, where n<BasicallyEveryoneElse's (except EI).
