You go to States and present at a formal judges' interview (you'll do this even if you compete with your robot there). If you win--you're competing against the Rookie All Stars from the 8 other Michigan Districts Events--you get a slot to compete
with your robot at Worlds.
Sort of odd, admittedly, but you've definitely raised your chances of making Worlds! Does that makes sense?
