I'll avoid beating the dead horse (glue is too cheap), and say this:
We used 3/16" solid-core round belts, clear (because
orange would be mild heresy thanks to our USC sponsorship), welded with a lighter in a jig made from scraps. We've had some jump their pulleys (not unexpected due to the nature of our robot), but none have broken.
