Re: 2012 Oklahoma Regional

Oklahoma Regional...wow what an amazing 5 days. (Went down on Wednesday, came back today.) Where to begin about it...first off, thanks to all of the teams and volunteers that made this regional everything that it is. So far, out the the 7 regionals I've been to, (3 Greater Kansas City, 2 Oklahoma, 1 Midwest, and 1 Atlanta Champs) Oklahoma is most definitely the most memorable regional places. From maintaining the pit order [I think? That's what I heard from 1742 (Shock what? ShockWAVE)] to 3507 being across from our pit and just chilling with them when both robots are out, it was amazing. The fact that it consistently ran ~10mins fast was both a blessing and a curse. Yay we got out of the arena early, but boy did it severely limit our prep time in between matches. The human vs. robot stuff was really interesting, and was something new I've never seen done, only though about. Oh, and the MC's were amazing. The way they worked in tandem made this regional into something special.
Speaking of special...a huge thank you to the Regional team for allowing me to ask my girlfriend to Prom on the field. To quote her, "that was the absolute best way to ask me to prom."

Finally, congratulations to all of the teams who won awards here, especially to 1540, the Flaming Chickens for a well done competition. Flying all the way down from Oregon, sweeping the awards, and being all around friendly. We were in the running for Chairmans as well, but you absolutely smoked us with your program. (See what I did there? Flaming chickens...smoke...hehehe...)

I can't wait to decide where we go next year, but I'm sure that we will remember all the great times we had in Oklahoma, both from 2010 when we won it all to 2012 when we rebounded from Greater Kansas City.
