Having you opponent's bot in your scoring zone messing around with your boxes doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Also, it will be hard for the drivers to see all the way over there, and it might be very easy to mess up and give the victory to your opponent.
When opposing robots are designed like that, it becomes a game of "chicken" where the teams compete to see who will lower the box at the last second. If you lower it too early, your opponent lowers it more, and your score is lower overall, but if you wait too long, you lose and get even fewer points.
