So I was thinking about FIRST (no surprise there) and a seemingly simple question came to mind; what are we supposed to learn here?

Well, of course we learn about robots and electronics and materials and programming and the importance of 7/16" and spirit and we have fun and we build these awesome machines that we call robots, but we also learn so much more.

We learn about problem solving and working as a team and how to get along with others and organization and planning and all of thisngreat, invaluable stuff that is hard to find elsewhere. But I think that the single most important thing that we learn about is coopertition.

It is awesome that there is this huge organization with such a good value as coopertition. When I look at some other situations where people are competing, they can be flat out cruel to each other, and I'm glad that FIRST places such a huge influence on it. It is certainly influencing my life outside of FIRST also, and I feel like I am a better person because of it.
