One would test drivetrain configurations (size wheels, location of wheels, qty of wheels, robot weight, CoG location) so one has better understanding of those particular configurations, and their CoF, to better understand their potential pushing force.

You don't need to complete your robot to get this data. You can get it early in the design process... or even in pre-season.
