I think the pace at which BMR filled up this year is also a credit to FIRST Regional Director for Indiana, Steve Florence and his efforts to ensure all teams were informed and prepared to sign-up. I see a lot of his behind the scenes work and he is doing a great job!
I checked registrations out about 1 p.m. yesterday and Indiana had more teams signed up by that point than every other state except 3. That's a compelling statement.
As for the Crossroads Regional, I know our team and I suspect others, registered for BMR first because the capacity is lower at BMR. We fully intend to go to Crossroads as well.
Being a Rose-Hulman Alum, I have been in the venue for the Crossroads Regional a lot, I was actually a student when it was built, and I am very excited about the layout. The field-house area where the pits will be is huge and the arena is attached directly to it, separated only by a wall. Think IRI but without the hallway between the pits and field.

Pits are in the SRC Fieldhouse and the Competition Field will be in the Hulbert Arena.
