FIRST CO-OP in Skillman, NJ

I was looking through an email notification from LinkedIn about new job listings and saw this one. Thought someone else might be interested in it. 57 people have already applied from I can tell. Here's the posting in it's entirety:

The co-op program provides an opportunity for students to be exposed to our process of creating & developing new and beneficial consumer & personal care products for global markets. Selected co-ops work on pre-assigned projects including ideation, investigational research & concept development, Prototyping testing, & feasibility studies. Peers, senior personnel & supervisors provide informal mentoring & coaching towards successful outcomes. Co-ops will work in laboratory environments, research pilot facilities &, when feasible, in the local manufacturing facilities. Co-ops may work within cross-functional or interdisciplinary teams & may have multiple internal partners & customers. Co-op assignments will typically range 5 to 7 months, e.g. Mid/Late December to June.

The co-op must be working towards a B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in their Junior or Senior year (or equivalent). Dual-degree or minor in Computer Science is also valued. The candidate must be able to demonstrate basic understanding of scientific, technical & engineering fundamentals. The candidate should have effective communication skills, both oral & written, & be able to demonstrate effective instructional techniques via graphical & drawing representations of 3D models & designs. The candidate should enjoy problem solving, working in team-based projects & delivering timely results. The candidate should be able to gather, analyze, & interpret data, & act decisively upon conclusive technical evidence, both qualitative & quantitative.

FIRST Robotics Co-op (Spring Semester Only)
Co-op will be working with Freshman to Senior high school students, primarily mentoring & teaching in a hands-on environment. Co-op will gain leadership experience & provide mentoring to high school students, who have varying career interests, with a target of the S.T.E.M. fields. Co-op is responsible for assisting in the mechanical design, purchasing of components, assisting in assembly and fabircation of parts for the robot and testing and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include:
The Co-op will attend all team meetings at/near the team's respective high school. The work hours will vary depending on the needs of the robotics team but will include weekday/night and weekends during the build and competition season. The build season has very aggressive hours (and does include Overtime hours) to complete the project task of building a robot. Work hours will adjust once the six-week build period of the robot (February/March), when robot assembly is completed and the robot is prepared for shipment to competition site. The Co-op will document successful procedures for future team's use and apply project management principles to coordinate activities (with administrative assistance).
Once FIRST responsibilities have been accomplished (typically in the March-April timeframe), the Co-op will then conclude the work experience with business-related projects related to Consumer and Personal Products Worldwide.

Student must have reliable transportation to work site and to F.I.R.S.T. Team meeting sites and other sites through the build season. Working knowledge of AutoCAD mehnical Autodesk Inventor is optional (e.g. read, understand & manipulate engineering drawings). Familiarity with the use of basic hand & power tools is required.

The Co-op should be familiar with FIRST Robotics & understand that this part of their work experience requires a large amount of effort & long hours, due to the aggressive schedule.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel is required.

Autodesk Inventor experience is optional, but a strong positive.

Student must have reliable transportation to work site and to F.I.R.S.T. Team meeting sites and other sites through the build season.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate basic understanding of scientific, technical & engineering fundamentals.

Demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives and while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.

Be a self-starter with ability to work independently within a matrix environment where tight timelines exist.

Technical writing skills.

Experience with MS software packages.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening skills.

Ability to set priorities and achieve objectives.

Must be able to work under pressure achieving consistently high results through individual and team efforts.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without limitations and require NO sponsorship now or in the future (e.g., H1--B visas)

BS/MS Mechanical Engineering

Minimum GPA preferred is 3.0 Cumulative.
