Exact c-c would be a horrible idea on the drivetrain. You need a very high belt tension to avoid ratcheting and premature belt failure, and that's hard to achieve without a lot of trial and error with exact c-c, and isn't forgiving if anything changes.

We will not be placing our encoders there again. It was a pain to change belts with them there.
