The first quote I responded to was addressing the idea that 1398 had gone inactive. They've dialed back to one event the past few years, but they're still very much active. (They're hosting Columbia's FLL regional in a couple of weeks.)
As for the second: TJ^2 is always a lively group, and likely to give 1398 a run for their money as The Loudest Team In The Arena for most of the event if past years are any indication. As such, hearing protection is a good idea.
