Doing that will damage the kinect to a point in which you would have to go to microsoft and have them fix it with their robots, or buy a new one. Before going for the conclusion, It is USB, so 5 volts will work, Shouldn't you read the AC adapter? It says '12 Volt 1.08A' Powering it off 5 volts should do some nice amounts of damage to your kinect.
